The following is an outline of what you can expect as a guest at Saint Clair First United Methodist Church.

What will happen during the worship service?  While each service may differ a bit from the week before, we usually start with singing, announcements and a time of prayer. We finish with a message designed to apply spiritual principles to everyday life.

How long does worship last?  Worship is usually 60-70 minutes long

What to Wear
God’s house does not have a dress code. Worshipers wear everything from khakis to dresses or suits during the traditional services. Some dress formally, and others dress more informally. We invite you to come dressed in what makes you feel comfortable.

Entering the Church Building
Sunday morning greeters make all who enter our doors feel welcome. They can direct you to the sanctuary and have information regarding Sunday school for all ages. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. If the greeter doesn’t know the answer, he or she will certainly know where to find it.

The Worship Experience
You will be greeted again as you enter the sanctuary. An usher will provide you with a bulletin, which contains the order of service. It will also provide you with information about what is currently happening at the church. During the service, a Friendship Pad is passed for all worshipers to sign. Please take a moment to sign it so church members can greet you after the service and so we may send a welcome note during the following week.

Our 10:30am service is a traditional service, meaning there is liturgy, structure, and a Chancel Choir.

Sunday school and Nursery are offered during this service.  Kids are always welcome in service, but most spend this hour in the nursery or class.

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month.  All are welcome to participate in Communion.  Everyone is welcome at the Lord’s table. Communion happens after the message and ushers will be in the aisles to assist you. In the United Methodist tradition communion is open to everyone including children of every age. So if you would like, please plan to participate in the celebration of Jesus’ Last Supper.

Will there be an offering?  Every week we take up a collection that supports the church’s work both at home and around the world. There is never any pressure to participate in the offering but please know you are more than welcome to participate in the gift of giving if you would like.

What Happens After Church?

Please join us for fellowship time after church in the River Room the first Sunday of the month.

What if I have a question or want to get more involved?  Please contact Rev. Dr. John Grenfell III at (810) 329 – 7186 and he will be happy to answer any questions or help you get involved in the life of Saint Clair First United Methodist Church.
